Overview
Grameen Telecom Trust was established by Grameen Telecom. Grameen Telecom Trust's mission is to end poverty worldwide by addressing a range of societal issues through the revolutionary potential of social businesses. Telecom Trust offers financial investments and mentorship to aspiring business owners through its various programs. Additionally, it creates and carries out social business projects that address important problems including environmental sustainability, healthcare, and education. By concentrating on social enterprises that solve environmental and other issues, the group hopes to reduce poverty, encourage people to start small businesses, and support sustainable development.
Grameen Telecom Trust
Grameen Telecom Trust (GTT) believes to “Invest in Change”, a concept that aims to transform society through the implementation of Social business ideas. GTT is committed to sustainable community development by addressing poverty, unemployment, and environmental degradation. Since it’s launch, thousands of business owners have been empowered, establishing businesses that contribute to personal growth and job creation. Grameen Telecom Trust (GTT) is the flagship entity responsible for implementing and facilitating Social Business ideas. Once innovative ideas relating to the field are set forth, GTT formulates them into prototypes that can be replicated in a sustainable manner. Through practical realization of Social Business ideas, GTT envisions achieving a world without poverty. GTT was formed in 2010 under the Trust Act. Grameen Telecom Trust has so far invested BDT 1,413.59 crore in donation and disbursed BDT 2,460 crore in debt from Grameen Telecom.
KEY INITIATIVES
GTT's support for initiatives demonstrates its commitment to driving positive societal changes by enabling individuals to engage in their own businesses for their benefit and adopt sustainable business models. The trust has given opportunities to 21,441 young unemployed people by empowering them since 2013. Through Grameen Health Care Services Ltd, it focuses on enhancing healthcare access by offering services such as eye care, safe drinking water, and nursing education. The Samajik Convention Centre serves as a contemporary venue for various events while also aiming to create skilled manpower in hospitality management.
ACHIEVEMENTS
• Nobin Udyokta-NU (New Entrepreneur) Program is a youth-entrepreneurship development program for the next generation of the Grameen family to turn unemployment into entrepreneurship. We helped over 21000 Nobin Udyoktas (entrepreneurs) since 2013 till November, 2019
• Through Social Business Learning and Innovation Fund GTT has generated 532 employment over 6 districts in Bangladesh
• Building infrastructure for social business ecosystem. We aim to bring social business to the heart of our communities. Till now we have helped create The Telecom Bhaban, Shamajik Convention Centre and Shamajik Health Science Institute and Research Centre
